Follow your path

Park in Edinburgh, ScotlandEvery now and then I pinch myself and take stock of where I am now versus a year ago. I'm in a very different place. A different zip code. A different country with my daily routine so much more different than before.

What lead me here was feeling the pressure of life unfolding in a direction that became unsettling to me. My life wasn't bad. I wasn't faced with health challenges, broken relationships or any tragedy. It certainly wasn't about money because even though I may not have had a fat back account, I always had my basic needs met. The motivation however, stemmed from the need to capture more from life. I had dreams. I've always had dreams and though things were not clearly defined, I knew there was an internal desire to seek more.

It was what prompted me to be removed from my 'comfort zone' to set sight on a very different path. While my path continues, I have visited four countries in less than a year, interacted with dozens of people from different cultures and most of all spent time with myself. While I'm still on my path of discovery, I know I will never be the same person as I was previously, almost obsessed with the "what ifs".

I was fearful about taking risks and had questions about having the courage to do certain things. I now know I can do anything I put my mind to. While I didn't need to leave "home" to understand this, it certainly added particular credibility and maturity to my faith in God and belief in myself. I encourage you to follow your dreams. It may mean moving from your comfort zone, to become a bit "uncomfortable" or simply take baby steps.

The point is, once you pray on it and become convinced of the need for making a change in your life, then DO IT! You'll never know until you try. For all who've been down this path and followed your dreams, I congratulate you! Regardless of the outcome, the point is, you took a risk on yourself! For those in the midst of your "move" keep on keeping on!

There are times the journey may get lonely or you may hit a snag or so, don't let that stop your DRIVE and TENACITY! As you read this, I encourage you to keep dreaming. Do the work. Nurture what's important to you and follow your path.

Make it a great day!
